Beatrice - I guess places like Zuni make you expect a bit more than you normally would from a place like lets say McDonalds. So its unfortunate when it fails to please or satisfy your expectations.

I totally agree with you. Zuni is overhyped & over priced. I dined there before when Greenbelt 5 newly opened. If I were to be paying this amount, I'd take my money to Prince Albert or Lolo Dad's. Zuni has the atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant but none of the flavor. I found their food oily, bland and nothing extraordinary.

am a paris resident and was in manila recently. after being away for years, i was so ready to eat! while friends and family had their own must dine places and we did go to a wide variety..from chi chi, fusion, french and of course filipino. want to try somewhere that
"gets" you after the first bite? try angel's kitchen in grenhills.

start with the softshell crab salad w/ mango poppyseed dressing or the waldorf salad w/ calamansi/honey dressing. the lamb curry w/ apple chutney and the signature bagnet w/ pinakbet rice are stars. come back for the spare ribs w/ XO sauce, lengua, ostrich salpicao, crusted dory, uni or longanisa pasta. tip: don't overeat on the complimentary paté and melba toasts .. even if they're soooo good.

share the awesome banana cream pie or choc lava cake or white tiramisu or apple/walnut pie..

take home any of the baked goodies; and home-made salad dressings and bottled tuyo and sauces. great service, completely unpretentious. reasonably priced given the excellent quality and portions-dishes are good for 2. it's always crowded so best to reserve. can't wait to see what you think! angels kitchen 57 connecticut.
