Eat oysters: love longer
A little bit of history from Wikipedia:
Oysters Rockefeller is a famous oyster dish created at the New Orleans institution Antoine’s. Antoine´s was founded in 1840 by Antoine Alciatore, who moved to New Orleans after two frustrating years in New York, to open a restaurant of his own. The dish was named Oysters Rockefeller after John D. Rockefeller, the richest American at the time.
Last month found us trying out this new (well relatively) place at Greenbelt 3. It is located at the 2nd floor in between Big Buddha and Seafood Club where MYLK used to be. Mr. Rockefeller appeared to me like a steak and ribs place from the outside. Ive been interested in trying out their food but only had the chance when my friend decided to hold a despedida dinner for our balikbayan buddy.
My hubby and I first glanced over the menu that was perched at a stand outside the resto. I asked him if he happen to like any of the items listed. He just said – ok Ive made my choice and proceeded to walk in. My, that was fast.
We asked the waiter to give us a rundown on what was the house specialty. After giving a painful recital (painful for us) of what we obviously could find out by reading the menu, we decided to just each pick a dish and share.
We ordered Martha’s Caesar, Seafood salad, 3 different oyster dishes – Buddhas heaven, cheese and garlic, and crispy oyster with thai chili, boneless spareribs, and alaskan sole fillet with oriental noodles. I loved everything except for the Seafood salad and the boneless spareribs.
The Martha’s Caesar was a great combination of romaine lettuce, oysters and balsamic vinegar. I loved it. The oysters were awesome – I dont think you can go wrong there. And the alaskan sole fillet is something I will pin to my memory forever. I loved it!… especially the oriental noodles that made me expect to taste “pancit canton” but got a totally different experience.
There are a lot of other dishes I would like to try out but then again, I only had so much space in my stomach – and my hubby would remind me again about being careful about putting on the pounds… – HA!
So I will just reminisce about the evening and imagine how the oysters went in my mouth and down my stomach in seconds.. hehe “takaw” ko (translate: I have a healthy appetite… hehe!).

i love their boneless ribs
Jeff – ooh boneless ribs. Sounds yummy.
My boyfriend and I got food poisoning here back in 2007
Never again! I was hospitalized for 3 days, and they said there was so much bacteria in my body. I’ve talked to at least 3 other people who have gotten sick after eating here as well, though I think I was worse off since I was hospitalized.
Marga – Sorry to hear that. I think everyone needs to be careful about places where they serve oysters. Its too easy to get sick with eating it.
