Hotel food
I have attended countless events, conferences, congress’, town halls that were held in hotels. These hotels have varied from the Five star to the no-star hotels.
Often, food would be provided during the course of the activity. And often, you expect good food. I guess its because when you hear Hotel, you get this idea that Hotel=Luxury=great food. In fact, most hotels serve food that “looked” the same. Taste would be another matter. They may look the same but they definitely do not taste the same. And taste is the one that defines a five-star hotel from all others.
Here are pictures of food served in hotels for meetings, conferences and the like.
You see you have the usual cold cuts for appetizers… salads… bread… sandwiches… pasta… beef… chicken… pork… and pastries…

Check them out! Would you notice the difference? I doubt it. Kudos to you if you do.
Some things I’ve noticed is that although some hotels present their food very nicely – they are very much lacking in good taste… some even bordering on bad.
Take the chocolate fountain seen in the picture above… tempting eh? If you must know – it only looks delicious. One second out of the fountain and it hardens and you end up with chocolate that tastes like the ones the local sorbetero uses to dip their “dirty ice-cream” in.
To give credit, it doesnt really taste bleh – but its not what I was expecting. I was hoping to be able to eat my chocolate dipped fruits and marshmallows with the melted chocolate dripping on my chin. Yummy. Too bad though that it wasnt quite that way.
But if you look at those tiny tuna thingies in the top left?…. D e l i c i o s o!!! It was delicate, creamy but light enough for me to devour more than 3 pieces of it (oops I think my appetite is showing). But that is what you get from a hotel such as the Makati Shangrila.
There you go with my quick views on hotel food served in these gatherings… I still love eating in hotel restaurants especially the hotel cafes where they have the buffet meals. Hmm… gives me an idea…

ei apples,
can i quote you regarding the food on this ‘event’? i need something to say about the ‘event’ so i plan to use the food as an intro. hehehe.

@erin
- What event is that? The last one we attended? Unfortunately, I wasnt able to take pictures that time so i really dont have anything. This post was from IWD. Sorry!
ah, i thought this was from that event. i cant really view the pictures since the almight W is blocking it here in the office.
it seems i need to think of another angle of attack. hehehe.
ciao!
@erin
- I know! I think “they” noticed how many times I went to our site during lunch hours so they blocked it. Hehe.
nah, our W administrators are not that smart. i wouldn’t give them that much credit. the most plausible reason is that the powers that be from the originating company rolled out another regexp rule that matched the url for your picture storage.
ciao!
@Erin
- Really? I always thought they were watching 24×7. LOL
hah, you need to kick them in the @$$ to get something done.
ciao!
